ZINE FOR SALE
You can purchase the zine (pictured right) here on Etsy. My husband drilled holes into the zines and I meticulously stitched 23 copies by hand with a red string and a huge needle. Needless to say a few drops of blood were shed in the making of these zines, but they were made with love.
You can also buy the economical version for $10. The limited edition of 23 costs $20 and you can choose a number. A surprise is also included ;)
THE SHOW
K4K's first show "The Trauma of Being" was a success. Yet again, my partner stitched each page to the next with red wire and we had a wall for each part of the zine. The exhibition acted like the unfolding of the zine, wherein each wall had a thematic content you could explore by walking along each panel.
NEW MATERIAL
I wrote an article on the Tarot (Tarot 101 if you may) to explain and clear up some misconceptions about what the cards can/ cannot do. Namely: the cards can only map out potentialities and pick up the energies of a situation but do not predict the future per se. In the end, you have the agency to create the future (free will is both a bane and blessing, huh). You can read it over here.
And... because I've been quite late with this, let me get on to this month's topics!
JULY / AUGUST TOPICS
July's theme is SPACES.
- How to inhabit spaces / make spaces your own
- Haunted places / spaces with their own personalities (include pictures!). Along the same tangent: childhood homes, transitional spaces, homelessness
- How do you change with the seasons? Do you have a cycle or rhythm you fall into?
- Unconsensual cording and boundary violations (often characteristic of narcissists)- the invasion of spaces
- How much would you say space dictates your identity, or how does your selfhood change with each space? Where is home for you?
- Where or what is your home planet?
August's theme is MAGIC
- Managing psychic ability: do you see, hear, feel things outside the normal realm? How do you tune in and out of it? How do you work with it without it being a disability?
- Childhood experiences with extrasensory abilities
- Telepathic connections: between friends, couples
- Serendipities and serendipitous connections
- Shamanic experiences: When I say 'shamanic', I also mean experiences of being torn apart and transmuted into another body; retrieving soul fragments from the past (soul retrieval) or actual visits to professional shaman practitioners
- Magical rituals: sigil-making, divination tools, the Tarot, etc

BIO-BLURB / SOUL-SELF ENTRIES
I am asking each writer / member to write a short 100 word blurb about their 'soul-species'- how they imagine their soul self to be for the "Encyclopaedia of Beings" page. This doesn't have to be a concrete form. It can even be a musical note, a colour, a zodiac sign, a state of being, an element, a Tarot card. You get the idea. :D The lovely Shoshonna will be illustrating little images of them, if that is any incentive!
THIS MONTH'S TOPICS!
1) Grounding techniques: this can be rituals, objects, people, anything! How do you ground yourself when you feel untethered?
2) Walking to the beat of your own heart: how did your reality change? What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
3) Strength-building for the soul / warrior-suit donning > what feeds you, what makes you feel
strong on the inside ('empowered')?
4) Childhood perceptions and realities: imaginary friends, make-believe worlds, belief systems
5) Building your sacred space: Where do you feel the safest? Is this a space you go to or a space you have created? Do you use any specific objects, scents, colours, light? Do you practice specific rituals within this space? (by rituals, I also mean drawing / yoga / art-making / meditating)
6) Defences and Shields: these can be shields of light as well.
How do you deal with it when you feel attacked? Sometimes it's necessary to put up a shield, but other times, it's more effective to plant seeds of light. Tell us about what worked for you.
DEADLINE is 23rd of April (my birthday woo!). Remember that deadlines are a bit like rough guidelines to keep some order. You are free to write about previous month's topics, as well. You can also private message me to pitch ideas you have. :)

ENCYCLOPAEDIA ENTRIES NEEDED
We're compiling an encyclopaedia of beings Borges style (Book of Imaginary Beings) For each entry, I need a 100 word blurb about your soul species.
NEW STUFF
-An essay on alienness, written yesterday in about… 10 minutes, hah! Called "Alienness, Alienation and alien-being: an essay around etymology" (a.k.a a false attempt at anthropologizing alienness and abjection)
- A few new poetry/writing entries to check out by Litsa and myself (including an old thing I wrote a long time ago)
FUTURE PLANS 'N' STUFF
- 2 month Exhibit is about to be confirmed in Singapore at The Garden Slug, with the opening on the 28th of May
The owners of the gallery also suggested having the exhibit up for 2 months to increase exposure for our artists and writers and collaborating with a local cat rescue, so we can help actual kitties. They seem to be quite excited about our efforts to create a safe space for artists, so our correspondent Aida reports. Details TBA.
UPDATES FROM OUR MEMBERS
- Enya will be writing a song for K4K, so she tells us. We can't wait! <3
- Interview planned with Rachel about her current project Playfully Creative; she is also working on a piece about names
- Marta is working on a piece about a past life memory residue she brought with her into this life and the impact it had on her childhood
- Serene is working a piece on motherhood, with a few illustrations attached
- Jessica will be writing about her supernatural experiences as a child and how she deals with it till today
- Jax may be working on a piece on the architecture of alienness through the construction of spaces
- Heather will be working on a piece on mental disease from a 'non-human' or alien perspective
- A few of our members are also working on pieces on rebirth and transformations
THE ZINE
I have decided to compile all the material using scissors, print and copy/paste old-fashioned style, like my makeshift books. That way, it will arise an organic mess of a being, and not too polished. Quite fitting for the nature of our zine.

Some updates ^^
MANIFESTO NAME CHANGE
After a lot of thought and conversation, I have decided to re-write the K4K manifesto and replace 'non-humans' with kitties, because kitties are cute, encompassing and loved by all! I want to emphasize that K4K is a space of art and exploration of different soul states and growth cycles for kitties, and not a place preceded on negating any particular group of being.
MONTHLY ZINE
Unsure of how the deadlines would work, I have decided on this for now: There will be a monthly group of topics in which kitties can write/draw/ explore, and ideally this will become a zine (monthly or bi-monthly) at the end of the month. There may be various continuations of various series from issue to issue to create stability. There will also be some staple topics, or developments/growths of each topic with each issue.
EXHIBITION IN SINGAPORE
Our publicity person, Aida, is working hard to get K4K a physical exhibit in Singapore this May. The exhibit will contain a 'story maze' filled with inkings, collages, writings clipped on the wall like pages of a book, and even objects. Each wall will have a theme, representing an evolution through a cycle of being. There will also be a spoken word component at the opening of the exhibition and, of course, some kind of instruction manual leading through the exhibit (because we all love guides).

As a reminder, here is what we want from you!
GENERAL TOPICS
- Rituals you have created
- Mythologies or languages you have created to articulate your experience
- Your soul self- how does it look like? Is it an animal, a being, a vegetation, or even something other?
- How-to guides on specific non-human powers you have discovered
- Your experiences of soul cycles and soul growth
DISCUSSION TOPICS
- Sacred objects > what objects are sacred to you? What objects protect you or do you consider 'magical'? Name 1-3, and attach pictures if you can!
We are also looking for longer essays on these topics for an article series...
- LIfe cycles > have you died and been reborn? What is your experience with different life cycles? When was your last 'death' and how did it happen? How many times have you 'died' and how did they happen?
Choose 1-2 accounts and focus on them. You can also tell your stories through pictures, if you like.
- Soul loss > Have you ever lost a piece of yourself in the past? How did it happen and how did you handle/ are you handling it?
